Seeds’ Savings Fund

This project grew out of a personal discovery...

I am a frugal sort of a gal and came to see that I often saved money just for the sake of saving.  But, I realized that it was much more vibrant, exciting, and meaningful, to do something with the money I save.  Thus, if I wash my car in my driveway instead of spending money at the car-wash, if I do a chore that I might otherwise have paid for, if I give a Seeds Gift instead of going to the store to buy something -- these small amounts add up quickly! -Sarah D-T

My Seeds Savings Fund

Seeds’ Gifts for Tag, Scout, Marcy, Kel, Shannon, Jess, Sweta, Mom, Quinny...$100
Wash car..$10
Oh, this was fun! Lila & Anna, the kids from across the street helped. While we were washing the car, we had the most wonderful conversation about the history of Uganda, why kids there need help with school fees, & how they were not just washing a car, but were helping the kids in Uganda.
Didn’t purchase new winter coat...$100
My ever-so-generous husband, Brandon, wanted to buy me a new winter coat. Though I loved the gesture - thanks, B! - I really didn’t need it.
Made cookies for Zane’s state championship...$40
Our very talented neighbor, Zane, went to state in swimming, and won! Instead of buying a cookie bouquet, the neighbor kids and I put a basket together with cookies, sports-drinks, & his favorite snacks. It was a more-fun and less-expensive way to celebrate our dear friend!

A few more ideas...

...For those of you who like to buy lattes regularly, what if you got one less latte a week and put the money into your Seeds Savings Fund?

...Are you in a place in your life in which you might save $1 each day and put it into a Seeds Savings Fund?  Can you imagine if hundreds and thousands of folks could do this - what a difference we could, collectively, make! :)

...Could you double or triple your kids’ Seeds Savings Fund, empowering them to save, research, and choose where they might give and make a difference?
